Beyond Mindset: Why do most productivity systems ignore the body?
Beyond Mindset: Why do most productivity systems ignore the body?
The Body is the Mind & the Mind is the Body
🌍 Being Set, Body Set, Earth Set…
I have been pondering the problematic nature of the term “Mindset.” The mind is only a part of what it takes to be a healthy and balanced human being on Planet Earth. Bro productivity systems mostly ignore the body or treat it as something to be managed or exercised. So, I quickly sketched the other critical well-being “Sets” to share with my students and clients. I’m just beginning to develop these ideas around these “Sets,” but I thought I’d go ahead and share them with you in this raw state in case it may inspire you as it has me.
🌲 Root Set
Being “grounded” at the root refers to a state of balance and stability at the foundational energy center of the body. It is associated with safety, security, and a sense of being rooted in the present moment. You experience a solid connection to the physical world and a feeling of being anchored like the roots of a tree firmly planted in the earth. This grounding energy makes yout6yu7 feel centered, secure, and emotionally and physically supported. Some signs of “Root Set” include feeling a sense of belonging and ease in one’s body and environment.
🧘🏽 Gut Set
The sacral chakra, or “gut,” is associated with various aspects of our emotions, creativity, sensuality, intuition, and relationships. Having a suitable “Gut Set” means that your creative energy is flowing freely, your emotions are balanced, your relationships can thrive, you experience sensuality and pleasure, and you have passion and motivation toward your life. It is also associated with trust – “trusting your gut.” A vital sign of “Gut Set” is confidence in your intuition and creative drive.
🔥 Power Set
A balanced and robust solar plexus chakra means this wisdom center radiates personal power, self-confidence, and willpower. When your “Power Set” is developed, it fosters a sense of inner strength, self-assurance, and the courage to take action in alignment with your goals and values. Signs of a healthy “Power Set” include healthy boundaries, assertiveness, courage, and a sense of purpose. You have the motivation and willpower to pursue your aspirations and achieve your goals.
🫀 Heart Set
A balanced and robust heart is associated with love, compassion, empathy, and the ability to connect with others and oneself on a deep and meaningful level. You can express genuine love, experience emotional well-being and acceptance, and sense the interconnectedness of all living beings. Signs of a healthy “Heart Set” include forgiveness, healthy relationships, empathy, kindness, and established self-care practices.
🗣️ Voice Set
The throat center is associated with communication, self-expression, authenticity, and the ability to speak one’s truth with clarity and confidence. When your “Voice Set” is balanced and robust, you practice honest and open communication, both with others and oneself, fostering authenticity and integrity. You are attentive when others speak and can truly hear and understand their words. Other examples of a powerful “Voice Set” are confidence in speaking publicly, giving and receiving constructive and kind criticism, and expressing creativity.
🧠 Mind Set
A suitable “Mind Set” refers to a cheerful, optimistic, and constructive attitude towards life, challenges, and opportunities. It involves cultivating a mental outlook that supports growth, resilience, and belief in your abilities, effort, and learning. This energy center is associated with intuition, perception, imagination, inner wisdom, and the ability to see beyond the physical realm. A suitable “Mind Set” enables you to approach situations with openness, flexibility, and a willingness to learn from successes and failures.
🌞 Soul Set
A powerful “Soul Set” is associated with higher consciousness, spiritual connection, and understanding of universal truths. When balanced, this center allows you to experience a profound sense of oneness, spiritual awareness, and a deep connection to something greater than oneself. Signs of a healthy “Soul Set” include a sense of purpose, open-mindedness, mental clarity, peace and serenity, and moments of transcendence.
